I Made: Embroidered Drawstring Pouches

Do you keep old clothes in case you want to use them as fabric for sewing projects? I do, even though I rarely do any sewing. The other day while cleaning, I found a heap of old white shirts and forced myself to do something about them. To either discard them or cut them into pieces for sewing projects. Oh my god, such a big step, right. But I saw great possibilities in them at some point, and it was finally time to take them to the next level.

I cut the clothes, and this got me really excited about sewing. Easy sewing, that is. So I decided to make drawstring pouches with simple embroidery. My last embroidery project was this pillow. The patterns are from the same book, with the left one being Salvia's design and the right two being traditional Japanese patterns. I'm quite pleased with the result.. And valuable lesson learned: if saving a piece of clothing for future fabric use, I should have it cut into pieces first. Turn them from possibilities into actual materials ready to go.

Anyway, it feels good to have turned something old into something new that is pretty and functional. I will master making drawing pouches.. Fabric scraps, I haz them.

It's Friday!

What a beautiful day today was.. and it's Friday!
Citrusboy and I did a little picnic at Dolores Park today, with lunch we prepared at the last minute: inarizushi (his favorite), fruits and some cheesecake I baked yesterday. Darn, I forgot to take pictures! I guess I was busy relaxing...

It was good to get out and enjoy the sun.. I was feeling very stressed out because of work, that I almost didn't want to do a picnic. Thank goodness I forced myself out and take advantage of living so close to a beautiful park! I should do it more often.. Oh, another thing to add to the New Year resolution, I suppose. :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Btw, I've been working on a shop update in time for Valentine's Day. I hope to be done by the end of this weekend.

Happy New Year!

Wow, year 2009, it's already here! I didn't see it coming, did you? I've been away during the holidays, catching up with my family back in Chicago. But now that I am back, I feel like there's even more I need to catch up with. I think I've been enjoying vacations a little too much.

Here are some of my new year resolutions:
  • Read more books (visit the library more!)
  • Wii Fit at least 3 times a week
  • Clean out the closet (donate!)
  • Blog more regularly
  • Finish taxes early (hwhat??)
  • Create more
list to be continued and modified later.. ^^

Apparently, I lost weight, according some people. I heard that comment when I visited my friends in Japan, and again when I went back home for the holidays. I'd like to think it's thanks to Wii Fit, so I'm going to try to keep it up.

As for creating more, I'd like to update my store more often, spend more time actually creating something than just visualizing them in my head. Why is that so hard for me, oh why? Okay, so that is a biggie among the list.

I'm going try to be more positive, hopeful and grateful. Yes, darn it!

Happy New Year, everyone~
