Back from Thanksgiving

Hello, my readers! I know you are out there! How was your Thanksgiving?
I came back from Chicago about a week ago but I am still readjusting and feeling the post-vacation blues. Usually, my trip to Chicago doesn't feel like a vacation but thanks to Mr. Lilacmoon's brilliant idea, our last couple trips have been sort of like mini vacations. You see, after spending some time with our families, we would chill by ourselves in Chicago downtown and explore on our own. Awesome. And this time, we celebrated my birthday! I turned 33. Or was it 32? Oh, who cares.

Some highlights:

Mr. Lilacmoon treated me to a fabilis birthday dinner at a restaurant called Sepia, and these scallops with hazelnuts were fabilis.

I visited the new Anthropologie store on Chicago St. and found several things I could use my birthday offer on. That store is just too cute! And spacious.

These churros from XOCO were so good. We ate them on two separate occasions.

Pigeons huddled around a fire pit at Daley Plaza. We saw them as we were leaving the Christkindlmarket and wished we could get as close as they could (it was fenced) because it was freaking cold. Smart, you guys.

This was a CTA train we saw on the way to the airport. All decked out with Christmas decorations! Could I see a Muni Metro train like this, please?

Chicago Trip

Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been away for a couple weeks, relaxing in Chicago with my family. I got to learn few crochet/sewing tips from Mom, celebrate Grandma's birthday, go to Renegade Craft Fair, shop at Off 5th (love this store!) and get the much needed haircut. :) Oh, the heavy rain that fell the same weekend as the Renegade Craft Fair! Boy, that was not fun, the rain I mean. Check out these pictures of the flood here. Thankfully, the area I was staying in was relatively okay but traffic was really bad because many roads were blocked. I happen to be driving on the Saturday of that weekend, and I felt like I was swimming because the roads were so flooded. That was scary.

Other than that, the trip was good. I was able to take only one shot of the Renegade Craft Fair because the battery was very low (doh!):

Some Polaroid shots I took near my parents' house:

Hanging out with some ducks:

And the youngest member of the family, looking very interested:

Taking a break was good but I'm glad to be back! I missed the Wii Fit and the mild San Francisco weather. :P I'll be back with more regular posts. Cheers!

Craving...

As of today, I'm on a diet. I really need to. But right now, I'm craving some cupcakes.. like these:

These are from Molly's Cupcakes in Chicago. I heard about them when I was visiting my sister last Christmas, and I tried three different flavors, which were all very good. Mm..

Don't you just love the colorful little logo? I get so excited whenever I see a good identity design.

Anyway, that's what I'm craving right now. All because I saw this chain suspended shelf DIY in Blueprint magazine, and it reminded me of these at Molly's Cupcakes:

They are swings! Too bad they don't actually swing (that'd be too dangerous with cupcakes) but I thought they were a really neat idea.

Wish me luck on my diet. :)
